| Trade Ship has strengthened its international team with the appointment of Keld Tornqvist as Director of Business Development, effective 1st August, 2006.
Trade Ship's business success has been built on applying technical IT skills through transport specific experience to software applications and solutions relevant to the sector. The appointment of Tornqvist, with his long career background in global transportation, represents a significant strengthening of this business model. Bill Jairath, CEO and President of Trade Ship comments, "Keld's experience within the container shipping and its associated IT functions provides the company and its customers with an exceptional in-depth knowledge of the challenges and solutions in our industry."
Tornqvist has worked in container shipping for nearly 30 years, predominantly for A.P. Moller and Maersk, both in Copenhagen and around the world. In 1994, he was transferred to Maersk Data, where he applied his knowledge of the commercial and operational aspects of container shipping to bridge the gap with the IT function. Maersk Data became one of the pioneers of sophisticated IT solutions, as applied to the shipping and logistics industry. Following the acquisition of Maersk Data by IBM, Tornqvist was instrumental in developing IBM's Transport and Logistics division. In explaining the significance of Tornqvist's appointment to Trade Ship, Jairath says, "At Maersk Data, Keld was involved in the development and implementation of solutions and additionally, in systems training for Maersk Line, as well as international management consultants. His vast experience will be a great boon to us and our customers."
Moreover, in the past five years, Tornqvist has worked closely with Jairath and Trade Ship in implementing the latter's SeaLiner product for a leading Asian container line. "In bringing Keld on board, I know Trade Ship is gaining one of the foremost practitioners of our trade," concludes Jairath.
